The Boeing Company Early Career Engineer - Air Breathing Propulsion in Berkeley, Missouri

The Boeing Company is seeking out an Early Career, Air Breathing Propulsion Engineer to support propulsion system design and analysis as part of its flight science team in the St. Louis area.

Main area of focus will be in the Air Breathing Propulsion System Support and Analysis group as part of a larger flight science team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.

  • Assist to define, coordinate and control the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.

  • Assist in developing specifications for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Document configurations and designs of propulsion sub-systems and components.

  • Assist in using various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.

  • Assist in the performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.

  • Assist in supporting fielded systems to assure continued reliability and airworthiness.

  • Support development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Experience in propulsion systems, (related academic coursework counts towards experience).

  • Experience in jet engines and/or air breathing propulsion operation fundamentals, (related academic coursework counts towards experience).

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in propulsion ground and flight test

  • Propulsion analysis

  • Propulsion system installation

  • Propulsion system support

  • Experience with field support or working in a field support environment
