JOB SUMMARY:

As a Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for writing, formatting and updating technical manuals and mixed media with direction from engineers and product managers. You will also be responsible for assembly and disassembly of automotive service equipment for documentation and will be a flexible resource for any technical communication projects. Other responsibilities include management of ongoing efforts that include creating and maintaining technical lists, marketing guides, subscription programs, information cataloging, and other special projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare documents for internal and external use within established guidelines, in logical order, check for grammar, and technical correctness.

  • Develop and revise documents for public use, such as operations manuals. This includes writing, photography and illustrations from engineering notes, drawings and interviews, as well as gaining understanding by hands-on equipment operation.

  • Special projects, which require organization skills, following specific instructions, attention to detail, creativity and the ability to follow through. Candidate must be open to input and instruction from multiple sources.

EDUCATION LEVEL REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a 2-year technical/communications degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Candidates must have technical background, strong basic computer skills, and interest in hands-on learning.

  • Candidates must possess strong communication skills, be able to interact with technical associates, and take direction from engineering and marketing staff.

  • The ability to create specific procedures from general instructions is critical.

  • General automotive service knowledge or skills will be viewed highly.

  • Specific experience with any of the following will be considered a plus: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, as well as any 3D software. Candidate should have interest in learning new software and means of digital communication.
