Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Position is responsible for all production planning, procurement of production materials and inventory management functions for the Centralia based business units. The Materials Manager owns the production planning and purchasing organizations as well as a Materials Analyst. This position develops annual inventory plans and monthly forecasts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop annual Inventory Plan that ties to the Production and Sales Plan

  • Work with members of management to establish the Production, Sales and Inventory Plan/Forecast

  • Handles Planning, Purchasing, and Analytics

  • Actively drives improvement in production planning and inventory management processes

  • Develops talent and provides growth opportunities for employees within the organization

  • Drive sourcing initiatives to support the growth of the business as well as outsourcing initiatives

  • Work with the Corporate Sourcing Team to improve supplier’s performance and reduce costs

  • Work with other HPS locations to improve service between sites

  • Supervise the stocking programs and forecasts to ensure updates are made according to HPS guidelines

  • Work with Forecast Planners to ensure the integrity of the SAP forecasts

  • Monitor and improve metrics (DOI, On-time Delivery, Lead Times, and Supplier OTD)

  • Work closely with Operations Management on capacity constraints, lean activities, material issues, and driving improvements in all service and inventory metrics

  • Develop Procedures to improve processes and to align with HPS Standards

  • Advise the annual physical inventory and account for variances

  • Work with Marketing to develop stock and forecasting levels to support business growth

  • Develop reports to monitor business needs

Skills and Experience

  • BS Degree in Business or related field; SAP experience; MRP, MPS, CRP knowledge; proficient in Microsoft applications, well developed presentation skills

  • 7-10 years materials experience and 3-5 years supervising others required
