Oracle Cloud Evangelist - MySQL in Chesterfield, Missouri

Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.

As a Principal Sales Consultant you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Sales Consultants. Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex solutions. Develops productivity tools and training for other Sales Consultants. Develops and delivers outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Leads any and all aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 3 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 7 years business experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools. Ability to implement the most advanced product features. Thorough knowledge of system and application design. In depth knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. A/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.

Your in-depth technical background in cloud will help partners and customers understand how to improve their businesses using the right database services. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will help evangelize our platform with our enterprise customers, start-ups and valued partners.

Preferred locations: Austin, TX, Santa Monica, CA, Seattle, WA and other virtual locations in the US where Oracle has presence will be considered.

The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to drive an engagement and interact at the C-level, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers, database administrators and cloud architects. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and interpersonal skills is a must.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the MySQL Solution Engineering team focused on driving overall Cloud adoption

  • Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the cloud computing market.

  • Experience with account management (Enterprise, SMB and startup) and solution selling.

  • Maintain strong database technical knowledge with ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate between varied database approaches (relational, non-relational, in-memory, data warehousing, etc.)

  • Gain industry recognition and credibility as a regular attendee, panelist and keynote speaker at Oracle Cloud Day Events and third-party technology conferences, trade shows and press events.

  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations, product demos, sample solutions, and discussions to drive awareness and adoption of MySQL as a Service.

  • Identify leads for potential partnerships and customer opportunities in the MySQL as a Service within Oracle Cloud space.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to define product road map and market positioning for MySQLaaS offerings.

  • Identify, drive, develop & support community user groups and developer program initiatives for MySQLaaS and MySQL Analytics developers.

  • Create and maintain white papers, screencasts, demos and videos about MySQLaaS and MySQL Analytics services for Oracle Cloud with relevant emerging technologies, open source projects, and industry developments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations is key.

  • This person will be technical and analytical, and possess significant business development, enterprise sales, or program/product management experience.

  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS and/or GCP Certifications;

  • LAMP Stack hands-on experience;

  • Database Systems Certifications;

  • Experience working with MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL and AWS databases.

  • MBA or Masters highly desired; working knowledge of database administration in Cloud, software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking technologies highly desired.

  • Experience working and traveling independently

  • Experience with public speaking at conferences and meetups
