Our growing company is actively seeking experienced Upholstery Technician in a Crew Lead role to join our team. In this highly specialized role, you will responsible for the performance of the functions related to processes in Upholstery Department. Reporting directly to the Department Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination, scheduling, and activities of the area. In addition to fulfilling technical or operational responsibilities on-the-job, the Crew Leader schedules, supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel, assigning and monitoring work ensuring that work meets established quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOP).

As a Crew Lead-Upholstery, you will also be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of technicians while remaining responsible for 'hands-on' operational work.

  • Establishing methods to meet work schedules and coordinating work activities with the Manager/ Supervisor.

  • Requisitioning materials and supplies for daily tasks.

  • Ensuring the proper use and (preventative) maintenance of department equipment, instruments and parts.

  • Overseeing staff health & safety, environment, productivity, and quality priorities, ensuring that all of these issues are addressed and optimized.

To perform successfully as a Crew Lead-Upholstery, we are looking for the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Technical experience as an Upholstery Technician accompanied by a minimum of 1 year of working experience within classification or discipline at Flying Colours Corp (FCC).

  • Previous leadership experience and must have the interpersonal skills to lead, manage, coach and develop others.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task and manage competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication (verbal / written) at all levels. Able to interact with peers, employees and management effectively.

  • Works well under pressure.

The work environment for a Crew Lead-Upholstery, may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort.

  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  • Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
