YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Scientist, are to:
Manage the collection, evaluation and dissemination of product-related dietary exposure and risk information in support of NAFTA and global business operations ensuring continued product registrations, employee, and customer protection, and compliance with U.S., Canadian, Latin American, Australian, and other international government regulations;
Assess potential threats to the BCS product portfolio by anticipatingreal or perceived safety concerns that result from the development ofnew data, implementation of constantly changing internationalregulatory policies and increasing efforts by NGOs to mislead thepublic, regulators and elected officials;
Advise NA and global business groups on potential issues impacting dietary exposure and Human Safety and identify strategies to minimize the potential impacts of these threats on product sales/profitability;
Provide global strategy and expertise in the technical areas of globalresidue study design, MRL, harmonization, import tolerancerequirements, and dietary risk assessment, aligning that expertise with functional and company objectives to achieve solutions leading to higher quality data and more refined (higher tier) safety assessments required to support product registrations and global freedom to operate;
Provide input into the strategic planning and design of experimentaldietary exposure work performed by internal and external laboratorypartners to ensure high quality and cost effective studies that meetinternational scientific and regulatory standards;
Support BCS and industry efforts to influence the national andinternational implementation of new regulatory policies on dietaryexposure and human safety ensuring that principles of sound science and risk-based decision making are employed;
Provide expertise in plant and animal metabolism, primary crop, rotational crop, livestock and bee specific residue exposure to support BCS stewardship, legal, sustainability and communications initiatives;
Be an active member of the Human Safety team in support of NA andGlobal Development objectives;
Provide strategic direction and technical consultation to internal customers, state and federal regulatory agencies (EPA/PMRA) for product registration dietary exposure issues in Human Safety while contributing in other areas of technical focus with emphasis on close integration with Regulatory Toxicology and Non-Dietary Exposure in DNA and in Global Development;
Operate within BCS global network as a strategic leader within Human Safety;
Ensure that NA risk concerns are fully integrated into globaldevelopment strategies and that threats from elsewhere in the world are fully incorporated into NA activities;
Support global product development and registration efforts outside of NA when appropriate, with particular emphasis on trade enabling activities.

B.S. with a at least ten years relevant experience or M.S. with a at least eight years relevant experience or Ph.D. with at least four years relevant experience, (all years of experience in plant and animal metabolism, analytical chemistry, residue chemistry, agricultural science or a related science), and a working knowledge of non-dietary safety and risk assessment, toxicology, environmental fate, exposure modeling and environmental risk assessment gained either in technical or managerial roles;
Understanding ofconducting human or environmental safety assessments for agricultural chemicals along with demonstrated technical leadership skills;
Understanding of agricultural, professional and consumer product use to enable the identification of feasible and cost-effective risk management options;
Knowledge of the EPA and PMRA regulatory process as it relates to the evaluation of human exposure, hazard and risk assessment;
Technical expert in metabolism and residue chemistry as it relates to human exposure and safety;
Capable oftechnical participation in task forces, professional associations and trade association activities responsible for improving pesticide safety evaluation methodologies, strategies and regulations;
Proven ability to apply broad expertise to problems outside ofnormal experience to arrive at innovative strategies and solutions tosupport BCS businesses.
