Summary
Spire is seeking a Second-Class Machinist to work in the St. Louis, MO operation. This position will be responsible for performing operations and maintenance work on buildings, compressors and auxiliary equipment located within buildings, outdoors and in underground pits/vaults. Maintains and operates equipment related to the injection and withdrawal of gas, propane vaporization, propane shipments, and NGL pipeline.
Duties and Responsibilities
Constructs, tests, alters or improves diverse piping, valving, and machinery components
Operates all machine shop and automated equipment when required
Inspects and maintains all Gas Supply Department equipment
Uses all hand and power tools and equipment
Burns and cuts with oxyacetylene
Assists others and performs less skilled work as assigned
All other duties as assigned

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
High school diploma or the equivalent including math
Must be able to obtain a DOT certification and pass CDL test with all proper endorsements to fill this position
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
Ability to work from blueprints and sketches
Must be physically fit, sound, and active
Must be able to pass the validated work tests applicable to this position
Experience/education welding structural steel with electric arc welder of MIG welder preferred
At least two years experience/education in a mechanical field preferred
Physical demands, environment and schedule
May be required to work off hour shifts, and overtime as required
Required to work inside and outside throughout the year.
May be required to work from heights.
