Army Installation Management Command Engineering Technician (Civil) in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DOD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located within the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Directorate of Public Works, Operation and Maintenance Division, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Responsibilities

Plan complete projects involving the maintenance, repair, and construction of structures, roads, grounds, and rail road projects.

Identify deficiencies and recommend maintenance and repair work.

Perform technical reviews of detailed estimates, designs and specifications submitted by the base maintenance contractor.

Provide technical expertise to a variety of parties performing work related to structures, roads and grounds.

Use judgment in the modification or adaptation of standard guides, methods and techniques to meet the specific and particular demands of projects.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with projects involving the maintenance and repair of equipment, systems, and facilities; 2) Reviewing reports, documenting deficiencies, and providing input for proper remedial action; and 3) Reading and interpreting contract documents to determine contract requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Have successfully completed two full year of graduate level education leading to a Masters degree which is directly related to the work of an Engineering Technician (Civil), such as: engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts with your application packet). OR Combination of Education and Experience: Have specialized experience but less than one year and have less than two years of graduate-level education as described above. Compute the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
