Sheet metal mechanic work requires knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of sheet metal, knowledge of tools and equipment required in the sheet metal trade, and knowledge of shop mathematics and principlesUsing shop mathematics to determine curves, angles, and pitchPlanning and making pattern and template layoutsUsing measuring instrumentsOperating shop tools and equipment to construct manufactured items and systems with various seams and shapesWorking with various kinds of metal, including magnesium, honeycomb material, carbon fiber, galvanized and black iron, aluminum and aluminum alloys, stainless steel, copper and brass sheets, lead alloys, and bronzeBasic TroubleshootingMaintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procdures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment.Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customersContribute to team efforts by accomplishing results in a cooperative and supportive mannerAbility to work independently under supervision of others while regular reporting of progress and statusSupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationiQualifications and Experience:iHigh School Diploma or GEDiPrior Sheet Metal experienceVocational or Trade School training is a plus.iLeonardo DRS, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates are equal opportunity employers and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law
