Engineering Technician position 3, CNC Mill Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes that support the achievement of the site's business goals.

Engineering Technician Job Duties:

  • Use their expertise using machines such as but not limited to; CNC Mills, Vertical Mills, Swiss Screw machines, CNC Lathes, Engine Lathe, Bridgeports, Surface Grinders, Drill Presses, Lathes etc. Would need to cross train on other shop equipment as needed.

  • Knowledgeable with Auto Desk CAD software program; can read, edit and create blueprints, preferred.

  • Adjusts functional parts of production equipment using hand tools.

  • Repair machinery using machine shop tools, welders, sheet metal shop tools.

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and adjustments on production equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors and pneumatic systems; following blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Use of proper lock-out-tag-out procedures and use of safe work practices with high quality standards and efficiency

  • Responsible for working with engineering design, Engineering R&D, production manufacturing, ballistics and quality teams to document symptoms and solutions for identified equipment problems in order to support the improvement of equipment. Additionally, as required, you will perform and participate in the execution of improvement projects geared at improving the performance and quality of production equipment.

  • Support Engineering project work across all of the plant.

  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Confer with technicians and submit reports of test results to engineering department and recommend design or material changes.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, is dedicated to the teams mission.

  • Remote Drilling of equipment and components that may involve energetics/hazardous areas.

  • Is comfortable working with ammunition, explosive materials and heavy material handling equipment as required.

  • Will work in Energetics areas as needed to complete project work.

  • Augment to our R&D Ballistics team as needed to complete project work. Use various R&D testing equipment a plus, RADAR, EPVAT, X-Ray systems, LABVIEW, Hardness testers, micrometers, scales, various hand loading equipment (Dillon, RCBS and others), specific hand loading of cartridges to precise requirements, high speed video equipment, color bore scopes, soft catchers, velocity equipment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Have or working towards an Associate's degree/certificate in Tool & Die or Precision Machinist, Working towards a Journeyman Machinist Level

  • At a minimum - apprenticeship/certification in mechanical craft apprenticeship through DOL or other will consider supplementing with equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience depending on the case.

  • 1-2 years Machining Tooling Making experience, Working towards a Journeyman level of expertise using general manual machines such as but not limited to; Engine Lathe, Vertical Mill, Surface Grinder, Drill Press, etc.

  • Strong mechanical trouble shooting skills. Mechanical aptitude to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment. Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools

  • Able to read metrology instruments such as but not limited to; calipers, micrometers, laser micrometer, indicators, etc.

  • Knowledge of CNC machining/programming is required.

  • This position requires a Secret security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
