General Electric Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader in Jefferson City, Missouri

Role Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader, you will:

  • Lead Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) efforts for the legacy Metem US sites in GE Power – Gas Power Systems

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with the GE EHS Framework Elements

  • Maintain training records and deliver training as required

  • Provide input to GSCM leadership on EHS issues

  • Assist in modifications of EHS programs and procedures to ensure company compliance

  • Support assigned sites with audits, accident investigations and EHS concerns

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements

  • Develop and work with sites’ operations team focused on EHS program development, implementation and improvement

  • Measure progress toward successfully meeting corporate expectations

  • Integrate the EHS function with site operations

  • Analyze data to assess EHS challenges and develop approaches for continuous improvement / maximizing program effectiveness

  • Assure all regulatory required reports and submittals are filed timely and accurately

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel between the two legacy Metem US sites in GE Power - GPS

Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as organizations outside of GE (regulatory agencies)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Corporate Training Program graduate or equivalent

  • Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion

  • Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong problem solving skills
