Role Summary:

The new Chief Technology Officer, and VP Software & Analytics will provide technical leadership and serve as the strategic functional leader for development of all GE REN software/data analytics products and services (built on Predix SW platform & solutions). As the head of software engineering & analytics, this individual will bring value to GE through outstanding leadership and vision, technology driven engineering, distinctive innovation and building brilliant, highly successful products

Essential Responsibilities:

As the head of software engineering & analytics for REN, this individual will bring value to GE through outstanding leadership and vision, technology driven engineering, distinctive innovation and building brilliant, highly successful products.This product builder and technology evangelist will be responsible for working closely with the Chief Digital Officer of REN; head of software product management; across all product teams and other functions; as well as the GE Digital team to shape and define the overall architecture and technology strategy, and drive software development.

As our new CTO-SA, REN you will define and lead the technical software vision of the organization. You will have full accountability for building the product portfolio, including new suites of software for the REN businesses, as well as identifying opportunities for new and unique software based solutions and products. As our SW & Analytics leader, you will expand the existing organization, drawing upon existing resources in the GE Digital, across GE businesses, as well as externally. You will shape and define this organization’s culture, creating at the most foundational level a sense of community and values that embrace software development evangelism. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and driving the overall GE REN software & analytics architecture, strategy and technology vision, and development roadmap.

  • Conceptualizing products with product management, co-innovating with customers and ultimately managing development and successful delivery of the product roadmap.

  • Partnering with product management and marketing to drive Technology & Platform roadmap with business leadership to achieve sustainable growth for the business.

  • Hands-on leadership in all aspects of software design and development, from conceptual design through product delivery, adoption and usage.

  • Hands-on leadership in all aspects of analytic model design and development, from conceptual design through product delivery, adoption and usage

  • Owning overall technical excellence and quality of all GE REN software; managing the end-to-end process and developing well-architected systems.

  • Instilling and building the best exemplar team of Lean, Agile, Scrum development; leveraging Agile software design principles and Six Sigma DFSS methodologies to drive design efficiency and speed to market.

  • Lead data analytics team, that develops analytic models, and drives differentiation to our products and SW solutions

  • Develop strategic partner ecosystem for SW & Analytics development, bolt on SW to drive integrated SW portfolio

  • Acting as a key liaison for all software development of GE REN to the leadership and strategy of the GE Digital in San Ramon, CA.

  • Hiring and retaining exceptional talent; guiding and developing the REN software technical community including training, coaching, mentoring and evaluation.

  • Inspiring, motivating and engaging the entire GE REN software community, integrating with GE Digital, driving communications and gaining their collective buy-in to the overall business software strategy.

  • Translating new concepts in software methodology into design guidance, developing long term strategy, and driving change and continuous improvement in design practices.

  • Representing REN at corporate and external conferences/events as a recognized industry functional expert; interfacing with analysts and other external constituents.

  • Demonstrating the highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance and honesty in all business interactions. Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in a software engineering leadership capacity, with a strong experience base in product and systems software; expertise in Scrum and Agile environments is imperative.

  • Exceptional leadership skills – with experience leading large global teams of Software and Analytics engineers

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering or related STEM major.Eligibility Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in building analytics, BI, and big data analytics applications

  • Exceptional software product development, engineering and architecture experience.

  • Has built and managed a highly successful product and engineering organization at scale for a recognized software business; prides him/herself on execution by building the right teams and market successful delivery of products.

  • Well balanced leadership experience in SW technology & end to end execution

  • While domain knowledge in renewable energy or industrial mfg. would be helpful, more important are leadership, strategic vision and proven experience building software and “as a service” delivery models.

  • Capable of assessing talent, managing performance and making tough decisions.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and experience building a startup within a larger organization, coupled with the patience and tolerance to drive such a challenging program.

  • Experience driving software technology in an environment where the core mindset may be in other products and service areas.

  • Big data analytics, data visualization & BI

  • Domain knowledge in Industrial Internet

  • Global experience and strong business acumen.
