American Water Health and Safety Senior Operations Supervisor in Joplin, Missouri

Primary Role

Assist the Sr Manager and Safety Director in the areas of safety & health claims administration, insurance services and loss control.

Recommend, develop and implement appropriate programs and activities that enhance the safety and health of Company employees, as well as minimize the Company's exposure to loss.

Assist with supervising the day-to-day water and/or wastewater operations in accordance with Company policies and procedures and all applicable governmental laws and regulations

Key Accountabilities

Develop and implement (including delivery of) educational training programs and activities that help develop and improve the safety process within the company and to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations.

Develop and implement the use of regulatory compliance programs, including investigating new technologies, providing professional review and recommendations for the purchase of tools, materials and equipment that will enhance safety performance throughout the organization.

Conducts safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and deficiencies that expose the company to loss or failure to comply with regulatory requirements Compile, analyze, and interpret data related to safety training and performance to measure the effectiveness of existing programs.

Provide assistance and expertise in accident/claim investigation and claims management, when required, and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrences.

Work with regional construction, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations.

Assures policies, procedures, programs and performance are adhered to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.

Train and develop personnel in proper operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.) is maintained.

May be involved in customer service related issues. Implement and foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within respective functional areas.

Support the Business Development function in the operational analysis pricing and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities in both the regulated and non-regulated markets Supports manager to ensure effective people management policies and practices are developed and implemented (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management, etc.) and ensure resources are developed and deployed appropriately.

Experience/Education

Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience in safety/loss control in a related industry or municipal operation

Education:

Must possess valid drivers license. Certifications/Training in Safety preferred.

Work Environment

Varies by task; environment does include field work; driving and working outdoors

May require occasional "on-call" after-hours (evenings, nights, weekends and holidays) support as needed.

Travel Requirements

Primarily limited to with Region. Some overnight travel may be required.

Must be flexible.
