Burns & McDonnell Assistant GIS Specialist in Kansas City, Missouri
Burns & McDonnell is seeking an entry-level GIS Specialist to provide GIS and information management support to a wide range of engineering and IT projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to exercise and build a variety of skill sets while supporting GIS analysis and workflows. The position will include all phases of GIS data management and map production including data conversion, data creation, data editing, data analysis, cartography, and web mapping.
Spatial data management and data analysis using the ArcGIS Platform
Map production in accordance with standards and industry best practices using ArcGIS
Preparation of GIS data for engineering and scientific analysis
GIS data conversion
Using ArcGIS Desktop/Pro to create and edit GIS data in an enterprise geodatabase environment
Develop and support GIS datasets
Work with Senior GIS Analysts and Project Managers to elicit, define, and document spatial data requirements
Publish and support Web GIS work products in ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS
All other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, GIS, Geography, or closely related field (Applicable experience may be substituted for degree).
0-3 years experience using GIS technologies for data editing, spatial analysis, and cartography
Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro is necessary.
Excellent analytical thinker and problem solver.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Experience publishing and managing content in ArcGIS Online and/or Portal for ArcGIS preferred.
Experience with the ArcGIS Platform including Web Maps, ArcGIS Enterprise, Collector for ArcGIS, Web Application Builder, Data Reviewer for ArcGIS, Survey123, Storymaps, and ArcScene preferred.
Familiarity with CAD software and file formats
Familiarity with XML, Python, and/or SQL preferred
