WSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil Project Manager for our Kansas City Metro office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a project manager, deputy project manager or task lead on projects
Lead teams of WSP staff and subconsultant staff to deliver high quality projects for our clients
Participate in Client Engagement (CE) teams to support business development efforts
Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages, engineering reports, technical memorandums, and other similar work products
Oversee designs for highway and roadway projects for either traditional or alternative delivery projects.
Attend and participate in client meetings, team meetings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Mentor junior staff

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited civil engineering program
Licensed P.E. in Missouri, Kansas
A minimum of 7+ years of roadway design experience including highways, local arterial streets, interchanges, intersections, Transit facilities, ADA pedestrian & bike facilities, channelization, signing, grading, utilities and traffic control
Direct experience with KDOT and MoDOT in developing preliminary and final engineering deliverables and project management on road and bridge projects
The ability to lead and guide civil engineering staff from winning a project through design and construction
An excellent communicator and team leader
Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria using sound judgment
5+ years leading teams to deliver transportation infrastructure projects for public sector clients
Direct experience with Kansas City Metro Area state, county, and city clients (MoDOT, KDOT, KCMO, Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Overland Park, Olathe, Lee’s Summit, etc.)
Experience with Design-Build projects
Strong experience with using design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, GEOPAK, Inroads, Open Roads
Knowledge of the interrelationship of design and federal permitting (NEPA, NPDES, 404, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam software
Familiarity with AASHTO and State DOT Criteria and Standards
Commitment to being actively involved in professional and community activities (e.g. APWA, ACEC, NSPE, ITE, ASCE, municipal and service committees, etc.)
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
