H&R Block Manager-Office Technology in Kansas City, Missouri
Responsible for strategy, roadmap, and planning throughout delivery of extremely complex and high-impact Retail Tax Office technology initiatives. Maintain alignment across key stakeholders and ensures cross-business unit executive-level communication channels are maintained throughout all phases of key projects and programs. Reviews new project proposals including goals, time frames, and funding limitations for viability and business value. Ensures conflicts between competing priorities and objectives are resolved in line with strategic business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Define the strategy and desired outcomes of assigned program(s) that are aligned to the strategic objectives of the business and maintain ongoing changes and lifecycle roadmap.
Work in partnership with Company and Franchise retail leaders to obtain and commit necessary associate resources at the appropriate time, level, and expertise to support the program delivery of future office technology initiatives.
Understand business goals and in office experience of both tax professionals, front office staff and clients to identify requirements from all stakeholders and define requirements/user stories for engineering and development teams.
Serve as a key stakeholder in all retail tax office changes, impacting technology, infrastructure and engineering teams including the following: Operating Systems, Computer Hardware (Server, Backup, POS), Network Hardware (router, switch), payment devices, workstations, servers, printers, document scanners, internet, monitors, browser standards and future hardware pilot initiatives.
Responsible for the delivery of project components for retail tax office infrastructure initiatives, working with engineering and development teams to deliver programs on time and on budget with superior quality.
Monitor and mitigate project, program, and operational execution and integration risks.
Have ability to discuss technical issues at a high-level with engineering and understand design implementation and impact.
Identify and track key success metrics against product and technology goals.
Education / Experience
9 years of business and/or consulting experience.
6 years of project management experience.
Program management experience leading very large, mission-critical programs that involve significant business change.
Experience leading large teams in a matrix management environment.
Demonstrated track record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Experience developing and managing program budgets.
Strong knowledge of business case development including cost/benefit analysis, NPV, current and future state assessments.
Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong presentation and facilitation skills to communicate with and persuade a wide range of audiences.
Superior supervisory and matrix management skills and ability to oversee tasks delegated to others.
