The Section Manager – Project Controls (OGC) is responsible for the leadership of the Oil, Gas, & Chemicals Project Controls section. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, but is not limited to:

Project Controls

  • Lead and manage all aspects of OGC Project Controls

  • Coordinate and interface with the OGC Global Practice

  • Determine section objectives and requirements

  • Serve as the technical advisor, and provide senior-level input and evaluation on Project Controls projects company-wide

  • Prepare management summary reports to communicate status of projects to Senior Management

  • Partner effectively with Regional Office Project Controls staff to ensure that consistent Project Controls procedures are implemented company wide

  • Ensure efficient, cost effective utilization of Project Controls staff

  • Anticipate and solve complex Project Controls problems

  • Direct all section cost engineering functions, including cost forecasting, cost control, change management and cost analysis.

  • Lead all section planning, and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, analysis, and ongoing recommendations for improvement.

  • Prepare various Project Controls plans and reports, financial summaries, and related activities for Senior Management

  • Other duties assigned by Senior Management

People

  • Establish and maintain a culture of integrity, character and high values within the section

  • Establish a track record of attracting and retaining the best people

  • Create and maintain an effective Project Controls team. Work with Human Resources to identify, interview, and select candidates.

  • Partner with Human Resources to identify development needs for Project Controls staff and oversee development efforts

  • Effectively manage performance of Project Controls staff

  • Organize, lead and conduct the annual performance appraisal process for team members

  • Participate in recruitment efforts for Project Controls needs company-wide

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field from an accredited program is required

  • Minimum 10 years related professional experience in Project Controls

  • Minimum 5 years managing a Project Controls team

  • Experience must include Project Controls management on EPC projects

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of field construction experience on heavy industrial projects

  • Must have experience leading, managing and developing a successful project controls team

  • Ability to partner effectively with the Burns & McDonnell Senior Management team

  • Must have experience in conceptual planning

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills

  • Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective

  • Must be proficient in Oracle Primavera P^

  • Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
