Senior Product Owner

Job Description:

As a Senior Product Owner with Cerner's federal team, you will manage a subset of overall product backlog for multiple scrum teams or multiple complex products. Conduct backlog grooming and break down product requirements for multiple development teams. Leverage domain expertise to create and prioritize epics and user stories for product development. Develop clear and testable story and feature acceptance criteria; review and accept backlog items as ready. Plan and perform functional testing, including user acceptance and exploratory testing. Evaluate development risks, perform hazard analysis and recommend mitigation. Track product functionality and performance as required by regulatory standards, to ensure that it meets market needs. Provide domain expertise and input to shape product, component or feature roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

  • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position

  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field or equivalent and relevant work experience

  • At least 5 years of product testing, product design, product strategy, healthcare information technology (HCIT) consulting or other relevant product related work experience


  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% if needed

  • Must reside in the Kansas City metropolitan area

  • Must be willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report and compromises of security within scope of position
