Location/Division Specific Information
Our Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division develops a complete range of high-end analytical instruments and software services that support customers within proteomics, clinical research, forensic toxicology, pharmaceutical, biotech, food safety, and environmental market segments.
How will you make an impact?
You will be leading software projects across geographically distributed teams in Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) and other Thermo Fisher Scientific Groups. By leveraging your in-depth project management and leadership skills to help drive company's long-term digital strategies, you will assertively drive new product programs with cross functional product development teams that deliver outstanding quality products in coordination with other departments/teams.
This position reports to the Director of Digital Transformation and Senior Director of Software R&D and will include responsibilities for all phases of assigned projects (initiating/due diligence, planning, executing).
What will you do?
Lead projects from concept creation through product development and into release to operations & the commercial market; this includes creating documentation to define system requirements and specifications, managing scientists, engineers and external contractors through development, validation, documentation and release of products via stage-gate process
Work with a multi-disciplinary product development team and across business units to develop, evaluate, document, and introduce new products or enhancements for CMD's digital transformation
Provide leadership and problem-solving for multi-faceted, cross-functional Product Management, Marketing, and Research & Development teams
Select and coordinate work of multi-site teams and/or contractors working on various project phases
Provide expertise in project planning and timeline development & management; develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources
Track and control progress, schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and budget
Effectively work with and influence team functional representatives
Conduct appropriate project risk assessments and define mitigation plans
Report to stakeholders and upper management about progress and any necessary modifications of plans
Develop approaches to sustain and communicate success and progress across global stakeholders
Build, develop, and maintain crucial internal relationships with Design, Program
Management, Distribution, Operations, and Procurement to ensure smooth completion of assigned projects
How will you get here?
Education
B.S. in a scientific or technical discipline
CPM or PMP Certification Preferred: Seasoned Project Manager with familiarity with latest tools, techniques, and methodologies to drive consistency across programs
Experience
Proven track record with 6+ years of experience in project leadership, project management, program strategy, scope & resource definition, possibility/solution work stream generation, knowledge management, and its transition to applications
Conflict resolution experience and capabilities with excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to influence
Experience managing multiple complex technical challenges, projects, priorities and execute with speed
Drive use and improvement of global project management processes

Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities with a multi-disciplinary team who need to communicate and cooperate to achieve success
Highly effective organization, negotiation, coordination, and presentation skills
Ability to influence others, partner cross functionally, and provide executive-level reporting and presentations
Initiative and follow through: Independent decision maker in a fast paced and demanding environment
Analytical and detail-oriented with strong Microsoft Project, Excel & PowerPoint skills
