JOB DUTIES:

The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) is a U. S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T). Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system. Our goal is to seek innovative solutions that surpass our customers' expectations. All positions at FM&T require U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

  • This RF Engineer position will be responsible for and support all aspects of the product life cycle, from initial design concepts, product development, transition to production and production support

  • This position will be partnering with Global Security Program Managers and the technical team to develop customer proposals while leading technology advancement and the execution of project deliverables

  • In addition, the candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with customers with varying levels of technical knowledge while possessing ability to generate accurate and precise analytical data, prepare written reports, and make formal presentations of results, conclusions, and recommendations.

  • Some occasional domestic travel to partner sites may be required (< 10%)

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program

  • Six (6) or more years relevant experience in RF engineering, software development, and communication protocols

  • US Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Department of Energy Q-Level Clearance.

  • Expert level electrical system design skills, trouble shooting skills, and failure analysis skills

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

  • Experience with RF electronics design

  • Experience with embedded electronics design containing microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, etc

  • Self-motivated, pro-active, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities

  • Superior ability to provide technical guidance, consultative services, and innovative solutions as well as utilizing problem solving skills

  • Ability to interface effectively with support organizations, internal customers, and external customers through oral or written communication

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present to a large audience or critical customer

  • Experience in directing and delegating tasking for junior engineers and technicians with the ability to motivate individuals and teams to produce on-target and timely results

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making

  • The ability to re-engineer and understand the operation of analog and digital circuits using schematics and computer simulation software

  • Experience with creating high-level test system designs, mixed-signal printed circuit design, antenna design and software defined radios

  • Experience with wireless communication protocols (802.11, 802.15, GSM, LTE, etc.)

  • Software development skills using languages such as C variants, Python, LabVIEW
