Honeywell’s Federal Manufacturing & Technologies business manages the U. S. Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus in Missouri and New Mexico, manufacturing sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system. Summary of Duties:

  • Designs and/or develops/processes new products, special instruments, and unique equipment to meet specific requirements of customer orders.

  • Develops and assesses production or inspection operations and sequences, equipment, tooling gages, or acceptance equipment and processing methods required to manufacture or inspect complex components and assemblies.

  • Translates design agency concepts into production items by coordinating the activities of engineering, quality, manufacturing, and related organizations.

  • Estimates set-up times, operating times, and flow times, as well as production and acceptance needs.

  • Participates in establishing operating procedures on new products and components.

  • Compiles cost estimates and delivery quotations, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review.

  • Plans and performs engineering testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve engineering and production problems and to assure product manufacturability.

  • Analyzes processes, products, and inspection records to anticipate, identify, and correct problems and to establish quality levels and trends.

  • Refines product definitions, based on knowledge of manufacturing capability, to assure that released designs can be produced.

  • Determines acceptability of products and materials in conjunction with a design agency and other affected organizations.

  • Interacts with design agencies and suppliers to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues.

  • Prepares evaluation reports analyzes discrepancies, makes recommendations for and initiates the most cost-effective improvements for the product, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flow time.

  • Provides project leadership and technical guidance on complex engineering projects.

  • May perform other duties as required.

  • Some Travel (< 10%) may be required based on business need.

  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.


  • U.S. citizenship needed to

obtain and maintain required US Dept. of Energy "Q"-level security


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical

Engineering from ABET-accredited program.

  • Five (5) or more years' work experience in an Electrical Engineering role, to include demonstrated experience with RF

hardware, RF system analysis, and RF Test and Measurement.


  • Experience with RF hardware, RF system analysis, and RF Test and Measurement.

  • Proficiency with RF Test Equipment.

  • Familiarity with RF

design and simulation tools such as CST and Microwave Office

  • Advanced degree (M.S., PhD) in Electrical Engineering.

  • The ability to re-engineer and understand the operation of analog and

digital circuits using schematics.

  • Experience with analysis of product test requirements to determine

system minimum configuration.

  • Previous experience creating high-level test system designs.

  • Digital and Analog circuit design experience.

  • Experience in adaptation of circuits to printed circuits.

  • Software development skills using languages such as C variants,


  • Experience with communication protocols (IEEE-488, IEEE 802.3, USB,


  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving electronic

system failures.

  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering standards and specifications

  • Capability to complete demanding assignments by applying advanced electrical engineering methods and tools

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutions

  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environment

  • Clearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages to a variety of audiences

  • Capability to follow guidelines and ensure efficiency on given project tasks
