Summary of Duties:
Provides engineering consultation on manufacturing processes, possible tooling and gaging requirements, and cost/delivery analysis
Will recommend changes in existing tool and gage designs to facilitate processing and production of the product
Provide estimate for the amount of hours to design, process, and manufacture and inspect tooling components to support all facets of final product delivery
Evaluate what equipment and process will be needed to complete the work. Then compare capacities of current machine tool load to estimate a possible completion date through the shop.
Guides the efforts of tool designers and senior tool designers
Uses computerized design and computer aided engineering tools to perform job requirements.
Represents organization as direct interface with Design Agency, NWC production sites, customers and suppliers to assist in tool design related issues and new business solicitation.
May perform other duties as assigned
Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established. HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes action necessary to ""stop"" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.
You Must Have:
Five (5) or more years experience in a Tool Designer role, to include extensive knowledge of tooling and product material properties, mechanical functionality, fabrication methodologies, and manufacturing processes, and applied experience with a CAD package (PROE and Solidworks).
U.S. Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US government security clearance.
Formal education in Industrial Technology or Engineering Technology, the completion of Tool and Die Apprenticeship program, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of tooling and product material properties, mechanical functionality, fabrication methodologies, and manufacturing
Applied experience with ERP tools
Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies
Demonstrated departmental and project leadership abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
