Burns & McDonnell Staff Electrical Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

Responsible for performing electrical transmission line design on various types of transmission line projects, including greenfield, rebuild, and reconductor projects. Responsibilities may include: Preparation of plan and profile drawings for high voltage overhead transmission lines. Preparation of estimates and proposals. Perform overhead transmission line based design calculations, including sag-tension, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendation, structure spotting, clearance reports, wire selection, and hardware design/selection. Perform calculations on transmission line lightning protection, grounding, insulation design, conductor selection and corona.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 3-6 years related experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities is required. Completion of a Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience. Experience in 69kV to 500kV transmission line design and working knowledge and/or expertise in PLS-CADD based software programs required. Excellent written & verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem solving skills required. EIT preferred.
