Job Description:

Are you looking to leverage your clinical experience to be a key player on Cerner’s Knowledge and Terminology team? As a Lead Clinical Terminologist, you’ll map and aggregate clinical data across the continuum of care to enable solutions that effectively manage populations. You'll be creating and ensuring adoption of best practices for data standardization across current and emerging clinical terminologies and developing innovative, advanced terminology content and programs for rules, registries, analytics or applications within an HER. In collaborative environment you'll set priorities for development efforts based on alignment with business goals, strategic direction, voice-of-the-customer feedback, timeliness and client commitments. You'll be relied on as a subject matter expert for terminology guidelines and consult with clients, leadership and internal associates. In addition, you'll network and research to increase understanding and current competitive landscape, regulatory and accrediting guidelines, healthcare industry and market opportunity.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Care, Sciences, Information Technology or related field, equivalent relevant work experience

  • Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist, or Clinical/Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification

  • At least 4 years of work experience using standard medical terminologies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10-CM, RxNorm

  • At least 2 years of clinical work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Nursing Informatics

  • At least 1 year of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook work experience

  • At least 1 year of clinical workflow work experience

Expectations:

  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed

  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to Kansas City area
