    Job Summary

    Newberry Group's Public Sector Division has an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager with experience across a Centralized Help Desk environment and the ability to lead an effort from discovery through execution and closeout. A strong skillset for cross-organizational priorities, projects, and change efforts that span initiatives is a must as well. The candidate must be able to provide customized dashboards, standard reporting and standard operating procedures that support integrated scheduling. Furthermore, this role must provide performance measures and data driven models measuring project status and score card approach to agency position and state of readiness to consolidate. The candidate should be highly skilled with Microsoft Project and SharePoint and other industry leading project scheduling tools.

    This role receives assignments and reports directly to the Newberry Lead supporting USDA Governance Services Division (GSD). The position is integral to our success at USDA and providing our client with the most organized and professional team members to meet their expectations.


    Full-time telecommute role with the willingness to travel up to 10% within the U.S.

    Candidates must reside in the U.S. and be a U.S. Citizen.


    $125,000 annually

    Responsibilities and Duties

  • Liaising with stakeholders such as project personnel, vendors and end users regarding project requirements.

  • Outlining, defining and initiating project(s).

  • Implementing document control policies and documentation templates.

  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of assigned component projects.

  • Monitoring project progress and implementing changes where necessary.

  • Ensuring compliance with objectives, organizational policies, procedures and standards.

  • Compiling project reports and informing management regarding problems.

  • Ensuring project complies with best practices, SOPs, PMO policies and other policies.

  • Day-to-day activities of the position include:

  • Activity and resource planning within the project scope

  • Organizing and motivating a project team

  • Controlling time management – setting realistic deadlines and communicating consistently with their team

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction – minimize uncertainty, avoid any unwanted surprises and involve the client with the entire project

  • Analyzing and managing project risk – meticulously and almost intuitively, identify and evaluate potential risks before the project begins. Work to avoid risks and/or minimize impact

  • Monitoring progress of the entire team

  • Manage reports and necessary documentation for presentation to executive level leadership

  • Ensuring improvement of processes through analysis, reviews, and reporting, as well as through automation, competence building, knowledge sharing and other organizational changes

    Basic Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science or related field preferred

  • Seven to ten years of project management experience with at least two (2) years in a Service Desk Environment

  • Active PMP certification

  • Capable of assisting and driving solution discussions to facilitate a clear direction forward that meets objectives of various disciplines

  • Organization change experience

  • Strong comprehension skills for understanding needs and developing and applying solutions

  • Ability to identify, initiate, manage and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent prioritization and multitasking capabilities

  • Strong leadership skills to train, guide and mentor the work

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Personal computer and business solutions software skills

  • Strong ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks

  • 2+ years of experience directly supporting a large corporation/agency or military branch

    Preferred Qualifications and Skills (not mandatory)

  • Experience within the past five (5) years standing up and/or managing a Centralized Help Desk.

  • Strong Governance & Compliance background desired.

  • ITIL certification or knowledge of the ITIL framework.

  • Extensive experience in vendor coordination and support for service area technologies including collaboration and team analysis.

  • Strong ability to manage multiple programs, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and switch between tasks quickly.
