Sr. Scientist Computational Chemist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Scientist Computational Chemist, are to:
Structure and ligand-based compound design including virtual screening Cheminformatics techniques for molecular target selection, HTS analysis, and data visualization;
Work on structural bioinformatics, homology modeling, target class similarity assessment, target and lead based design of compounds;
Apply agile in silico modeling technologies for small synthetic molecules as well as biomolecules i.e. peptides, oligonucleotides or natural compounds;
Work on prediction of compound physicochemical properties to aid in compound design and selection;
Evaluate novel internal and external computational capabilities;
Generate and secure IP for all projects;
Contribute to data science initiatives and interface development within crop protection discovery and crop protection discovery.
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree at least eight years of relevant experience or Ph.D. with at least four years of experience;
Four years of computational chemistry experience within a pharmaceutical, agrochemical or biotechnology setting;
Demonstrated impact in applying computational chemistry to drive the design and progression of small molecules in a team setting as evidenced by publications and patent applications;
Demonstrated experience in applying computing workflows with biomolecules as peptides, sRNA, natural products or high molecular weight molecules;
Experience in team-based small molecule design in early to late stage discovery;
Ability to work in a cross disciplinary team environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Computational Chemistry or related field with at least four years of relevant experience;
Knowledge of novel modalities and approaches to identifying and modeling interactions that govern these modalities;
Experience in plant systems.
