The Boeing Company is seeking an Acoustics Engineer in St Louis, MO.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and apply computational fluid dynamic and computational aeroacoustic techniques to predict and understand sources of aircraft noise • Analyze and model aircraft noise sources including subsonic and supersonic airplanes as well as rotorcraft and urban air mobility vehicles • Engage with engineers throughout Boeing to devise innovative noise reduction concepts • Apply knowledge of numerical methods and acoustics to create, enhance and improve accuracy of design tools • Lead and participate in wind tunnel and flight test campaigns • Lead individual efforts and perform as part of cross-functional teams. Report and present findings

Basic Qualifications:
• 3 years in vehicle noise prediction or measurement

Preferred Qualifications: Acoustics and flow physics:
• Jet noise generation mechanism
• Supersonic flow and shock formation • Shear flow instability • Nonlinear wave propagation • Aircraft aerodynamics

Computational knowledge:
• Computational Aeroacoustics methods • CFD methods • Gridding tools • Large Eddy Simulation • Ffowcs-Williams and Hawkings (FWH) method

Programming skills: • Fortran 90, C, C • MPI • Script languages • Visualization tools • Experience with Linux clusters and other massively parallel platforms

Typical Education/Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
