Randstad in partnership with a leading biotechnology company located in St. Louis, MO, is now hiring for a Biologist with experience in seed and/or plant physiology. If you are the selected candidate for this role, you will work with our client who is shaping the world of agriculture with breakthrough innovation for the benefit of farmers, consumers and our planet.
As the selected candidate for this position, you will plan and perform novel research and development efforts towards seed physiology assay development and/or improvement. Key responsibilities for this role include:
Develop, validate, and implement new technologies that enhance Seed Quality testing with a primary focus on the use of advanced techniques
Investigate, optimize, and develop innovative seed physiology assays for germination, viability, and vigor
Conduct research activities with the goal of practical implementation in Seed Physiology testing laboratories
Assist the Seed Physiology testing group with routine protocol troubleshooting
Design and execute research experiments in an efficient manner to meet project deadlines
Responsible for statistical analyses of results obtained in internal and external projects and subsequent decision making, including oral and written communications both internally and externally in formal reports, presentations, and posters
Adhere to all safety and stewardship policies and actively participates in our client's ESH Program
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Proven experience seed/plant physiology research.
Ph.D. in Seed/Plant Physiology or related field OR an MS in Seed/Plant Physiology with 4+ years post-graduate experience in an industry or academic setting
Proven track record of research success from project ideation through implementation
Strong skills in experimental design, analysis of results using various `omics approaches and large data sets
Strong technical and scientific writing (papers, reviews, or grant applications)
Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific journal articles, technical procedures, government regulations, and seed testing procedures
Functional and technical proficiency in seed technology or other related agriculture experience
Result-oriented leadership capability
Excellent communications skills in English, both verbal and in writing, including the capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through verbal or written communications
Decision making and problem solving skills. The ability to act in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of relevant issues
Capacity to working with people and lead people in such a manner as to build high morale and group commitments to achieve goals and project objectives jointly
Ability to work in a fast-paced global and multi-cultural seed company
Appropriate use of statistical analysis in problem solving and decision making
