Burns & McDonnell Business Development Manager - Oil, Gas and Chemicals in Saint Louis, Missouri


Burns & McDonnell has an immediate opening in St Louis for a Business Development Manager in the Renewables, Specialty Chemicals, Bio-refining, Agribusiness, Petrochemical Midstream and Refining Business within the Oil, Gas and Chemicals division. This position will be responsible for developing business with key clients in these markets with significant potential to become a major contributor to the growth and profitability of Burns & McDonnell.

This business line within Burns & McDonnell executes engineering, procurement and construction projects of processing facilities within these markets. The Business Development Manager will:

  • Establish continuing contact with new prospects; coordinate contacts between staff and proposed clients. Serves as principal client contact when necessary.

  • Advise marketing principals of actions, schedules, and related activities for clients and prospects on continual basis.

  • Supervise team members.

  • Coordinate team activities for timely responses, submittals, presentations and proposals.

  • Support development of marketing's administrative system and resources.

  • Establish goals, objectives, strategies, and budget requirements for developing new business.

  • Serve as the client advocate during the completion of projects to ensure proper team alignment and assist advancing from concept development through design and construction phases.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor degree in engineering, science or related field from accredited program required.

  • Minimum five years business development experience (ten overall), in the target markets strongly preferred (renewable fuel, renewable chemical, specialty chemical, bio-refining, agri-business, petroleum midstream and refining).

  • Working knowledge of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) business required.

  • Experience in consulting environment preferred.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills required.
