The Boeing Company Configuration Management/Process Engineer - Entry Level in Saint Louis, Missouri

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Engineering Oganization is seeking Entry Level Product Data Management Engineers. The candidate will be placed into a role with a concentration of either configuration management or product data management. Both positions will be located in St. Louis, MO.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Development/management of the product definition data or management of the overall product baseline.

  • Work closely with our engineering staff on aircraft and missile development programs to support the development, analysis, verification and change control of product baselines for military aircraft and missile programs.

  • Support and manage Product Data Management (PDM) and CAD applications and associated processes.

  • Work on PDM tools with design, manufacturing, and process engineers.

  • Work across multiple programs that are performing engineering design work throughout the product life cycle.

  • Assisting users in resolving issues using Product Data Management and CAD tools

  • Assisting in the resolution of issues with engineering product structure and product identification

  • Assisting in the development of processes used by design engineers to develop and maintain the product structure

  • Assisting in the implementation of configuration/data management plans and in the delivery of program data to authorized users.

  • Work with our engineers in planning for and implementing a transition from previous-generation PDM and CAD tools to newer, modern systems that provide additional capabilities.

  • Define and manage change control documents (such as Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Change Documents (CDs), deviations, and others)

  • Conduct program Change Control Boards (CCB)

  • Assist with aircraft delivery documentation, Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs).

  • Interface and coordinate with the customers across all program organizations

  • Engage in program planning activities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • Intermediate competency level in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal, written and team communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment of changing requirements

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace engineering, engineering management, systems engineering or mechanical engineering

  • Knowledge of configuration and data management principles

  • Familiarity with CAD tools and configuration management systems

  • Interest in working with digital data and helping users navigate complex applications

    Typical Education/Experience: Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
