Description:The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, a non-profit plant science research institution located in Creve Coeur, Missouri is seeking a Data Scientist to work on a special project in collaboration with our Education Outreach department, in a temporary, part time capacity for a 6 month duration.The Data Scientist will manage and analyze the MO DIRT data (6 months contract, part- time). MO DIRT - Missourians Doing Impact Research Together is a citizen science project that monitors soil health across the state with volunteers on a monthly basis. Reporting to the MO DIRT Program Manager, the Data Scientist will be performing descriptive analyses and fitting statistical models to MO DIRT data, preparing reports with creative data visualization.Responsibilitieso Prepare data sets for analysis (clean, modify, recode, and combine data)o Conduct descriptive analyses of the data (including visualizing the data)o Fit statistical models to standard and nonstandard datao Prepare reports based on the data analyseso Collaborate with the management of the MO DIRT database products to understand strategic direction and apply methodologies to data as needed across multiple data sets Knowledge and Skill Requirementso Experience with R coding language (at least one graphing package, and either lme4 or nlme)o Experience with raw data modification and preparationo Experience with fitting various regression models, mixed effect and longitudinal, and experience with multivariate data and data reductiono Ability to work independentlyo Bachelorandrsquo;s degree in statistics or a related quantitative fieldTo apply, please submit cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org with Data Scientist in the subject line.
