Expert Engineer (Mechanical)Job DescriptionSee your designs come to life with Purina! Purina is proud to support pets and the people who love them; because of this, our business is growing. We have an opportunity for a mechanical engineer to join the Buildings and Infrastructure Team. Our team of six is responsible for designing the infrastructure systems that are critical for our factory's operations.Our group is responsible for the engineering and design of capital projects to build new factories in North America, renovate our existing factory base, and consult with factory engineering teams. You will get a good mix of performing in-house engineering/design work and guiding third-party design-build firms. Your job is to ensure Purina's needs and standards are met with every design and installation.We're looking for someone who works well in a team environment and communicates well with vendors, all technical disciplines, construction personnel, and business management. We are seeking a mechanical engineer to plan, conduct, and coordinate Mechanical Utility Engineering functions covering all aspects of mechanical utilities as applied in the production of wet and dry pet foods, pet treats, and cat/dog litter.Your technical expertise will include all aspects of mechanical utility technology, in terms of industrial utility systems, and equipment design and application. This position will require travel, with expected levels at 20%, but may be more during project start up and commissioning. Note: Current travel is significantly reduced due to Covid-19.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide Mechanical Engineering design and review for capital projects including detailed phases of the engineering work, related documentation, and field support.Coordinate work by outside consultants and suppliers, utilizing broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, and an understanding of principles and practices in related specialties.Provide mechanical engineering technical assistance to operating facilities, including planning/implementing investigation and analysis in problem areas or areas of opportunity for improvement.Provide Mechanical Engineering support to divisional improvement efforts including systems analysis, scope development, and evaluation of alternate technologies and methods.Keep abreast of new methods and developments affecting the industry for the purpose of recommending changes in emphasis in programs, or new programs warranted by such developments.Provide project engineering for developmental projects and for capital projects on special assignment.Assist in the development and modification of department technical guidelines, standards, and specifications in the area of specialty.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (minimum):Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) preferred.5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in mechanical utility system design, including HVACR, liquid handling systems (tanks, pumps, piping), heat transfer systems, steam systems, chill water systems, natural gas systems, and industrial waste systems.It is our business imperative to remain a very inclusive workplace.To our veterans and separated service members, you're at the forefront of our minds as we recruit top talent to join Nestl Purina.
