The Boeing Research & Technology organization has an opportunity for a Sr. Engineering Manager (Level M) to lead our Integrated Vehicle Technologies team. This position is located in either Huntington Beach, California or St. Louis, Missouri.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading cross-discipline teams focused on accelerating technology integration and transition to vehicle platforms, the development of new and innovative air and space vehicles, the support of multi-disciplinary design, analysis and optimization tools and methods, and project leadership and infrastructure for flight demonstrator programs.

  • Regular engagement with enterprise stakeholders, US Government and international research and development entities.

  • Responsible for management, execution, and growth of a portfolio of Industry and Contract Research and Development (IR&D) projects, Company-Sponsored Research and Development (CSR&D) projects, and business unit/program support.

  • These responsibilities include vehicle-level technology portfolio strategic planning and management, coordination and project management across enterprise test and technology teams and business stakeholders.

Work Authorization Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Team-building and organizational management experience: Experience building and growing an effective team that includes members outside of the direct reporting chain. Experience leading an Integrated Product Team (IPT) on an air or space vehicle program. Experience utilizing Human Resource processes.

  • Business (operational) acumen: Project management experience, including management of cost, schedule technical risks, issues and opportunities. Experience implementing portfolio management processes, building & maintaining research and development strategies and technology plans aligned to business unit needs and strategic objectives.

  • Flight Engineering technical experience: Experience with vehicle-level design, systems integration, build, and flight test.

  • Building professional relationships: Experience building internal strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships to identify technology needs, accelerate technology development, and ensure successful concept technology transition. Experience developing and managing key relationships across all engineering teams and strategic interfaces with other functions and stakeholders.

  • Customer Focus: Experience coordinating, engaging, and partnering with external customers (US Government and global R&D organizations), universities, industry partners, and suppliers in developing and maturing technologies.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Technical experience with flight vehicle (multiple speed regimes) prototype development through flight test demonstrations.

  • Industry experience with flight vehicle state-of-the-art technologies, US government (DoD, NASA, FAA, and others) customer technology needs, strategies and plans.

  • Experience with Intellectual Property considerations when making technology investment decisions and in developing proposals for contracted work.
