The Boeing Company Mid-Level System Safety Engineer in Saint Louis, Missouri

Boeing Defense, is seeking an individual to perform System Safety and Environmental Engineering activities. The selected candidate will be tasked to perform critical system safety work on one or more of our major programs. The work will consist of performing detailed system safety tasks such as system and subsystem hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, sneak circuit analysis, and software safety analysis. In addition, the selected candidate will be tasked to serve as an environmental engineering company resource in the definition of system safety program fundamentals documenting hazard analysis and risk assessments (e.g. safety assessment reports, hazard notification, hazardous material reports), analysis and control of hardware, software, and chemical hazards by supporting design activities to provide advice and counsel on pertinent regulatory, safety and environmental requirements, reviewing preliminary configurations, and strengthening integration of hazard and chemical risk management practices within product safety. The selected candidate will also assist with the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, as well integrating technical parameters to assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces. The selected candidate may also provide relevant input/guidance to analyses for affordability, reliability & maintainability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other quality factors that drive a preferred configuration that ensures mission success. These tasks are accomplished within a collaborative environment with other Boeing teams and businesses to assist with and/or plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system solution. Military experience and familiarity with the nuclear certification process, while not required is desirable. Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

Military experience, software safety, environmental/hazardous material management, and familiarity with the nuclear certification process, while not required is desirable.

Must have an active (or are you able to obtain) a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Must be a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15? “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
