Regional Field Operations Supervisor
We are currently seeking a Regional Field Operations Supervisor to join our team . We are looking for an energetic profession to provide leadership, direction and supervision to the ECI Field Service employees within the assigned territory. The position reports directly to the Regional Manager(s) and indirectly to the Chief Operating Officer/Operations team to ensure quality of service and consistency of delivery throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise field services projects to maximize production output of employees on a company-wide basis.
Develop a thorough understanding of the utility’s objectives, design and scope to effectively manage ECI’s contract foresters on site.
Coordinate ECI’s contract supervisory personnel driving consistency throughout the company’s projects regardless of scope.
Assist in the selection of project supervisors, team leaders and ECI Arborist, Foresters, Specialists, Technicians and Analysts critical to the successful performance of utility scope driven goals and objectives.
Assist in storm emergency situations as required. Coordinate movement between projects, make assignment decisions of personnel to projects, and manage assets for these personnel services.
Identify training needs of new and existing supervisory staff, establish performance goals and document progress in personnel files for training.
Oversee HR mandated records regarding employee reviews, pay levels and assist subordinate supervisors with training and coaching staff.
Routinely visit projects and employees in the Region to evaluate performance, recognize opportunities for improvement and develop corrective actions.
Actively participate as a key member of the ECI and client utility’s communications team. Communicate with utility personnel and their customers, to answer questions and assist in the mitigation of concerns.
Scheduling meetings with utility management personnel, right-of-way maintenance crews, consulting engineers, environmental entities and project managers to facilitate smooth and cooperative operations.
Assure all parties to the project are kept informed of progress for right-of-way clearance work planning, work packet production output, completed work auditing and other activities that may attract public relations attention.
Assist with onboarding of new ECI employees including logistics facilitation, completing I9s, first day tasks, decision driving, etc.
Work with ECI employees, ECI administration, and utility client representatives to ensure timekeeping and billing processes are correct.
Coordinate movement of company vehicles and equipment across the region.
Identify training needs of new & existing staff, establish performance goals and document progress in personnel files for training.
Help assure and promote an effective safety culture among ECI employees, including safety checks, safe driving, etc.
Helping foster positive supportive relationship between employees and clients
A degree in Forestry or a related field preferred. A business or other degree with solid utility forestry experience is an acceptable alternative.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in utility vegetation management and supervisory experience required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to self-manage a multi-dimensional meeting and travel schedule.
Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively with clients, staff, executives and field employees.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in the English language required, Spanish as an additional language a plus.
ISA Certification preferred (and required within 1 year) and ISA Utility Specialist Certification a plus.
Computer skills to include demonstrated abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point required.
Familiarity with ATV/UTV operations. Willingness to teach and provide training in operating this equipment.
Willingness to travel extensively within the Region is required. Location near major airport required.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
This job works in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including: walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions.
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; carry, push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (5 to 10 lbs.); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
