Thermo Fisher Scientific Scientist I, Downstream Process Development in Saint Louis, Missouri
Acts as an individual contributor in the completion of scientific experiments. Works within a matrix management system under the directions of a scientific manager. Maintains a high degree of success in completing scientific experiments of mild complexity will be expected. Decisions made in this role will primarily impact individuals own work. Maintains a GLP laboratory notebook, and review other's notebooks.
Performs lab work (80%).
Activities include but are not limited to:
calibrating/ maintaining equipment.
assisting with experiments.
performing basic assays.
BS degree in biological sciences or closely related field is desired
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Demonstrates a solid foundation in general scientific practices, principals and concepts.
Demonstrates ability to make decisions which directly apply technical knowledge although can have significant reliance on supervisor or experienced colleagues for scientific judgment of work.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and concern for standards.
Proficiency in MS Office is expected
Ability to function in a rapidly changing environment and balance multiple priorities moving from one project to another as priorities change Lifting, walking, sitting for long periods and repetitive hand motions
