Primary Role

Responsible for project management, planning, engineering design, bidding, and construction management, etc. on multiple small to medium size projects relating to various aspects of the business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manages multiple small to medium size projects and perform varied engineering assignments associated with planning, design or construction and prepare and maintain files, records, drawings, reports, budgets and other data related to engineering projects (30%)

  • Perform field surveys to obtain measurements and/or stake easements and perform field inspections to insure standards are met and proper records are kept.

  • Prepare technical, bidding and contractual documents associated with delivery of capital investment projects. (20%)

  • Ensure scope and quality of work achieve the intent of all Design Concepts and Company standards for capacity, performance, reliability, safety and regulatory compliance. (15%)

  • Develops technical information and concepts into feasible and effective engineering approaches. (15%)

  • Develop strategic and strong working relationships with engineering firms, vendors, and contractors. (10%)

  • Assist in providing technical expertise on engineering and operational issues. Supervises field and contract personnel to ensure timely completion of assignments, within budget and adherence to standards.

  • Adhere to Engineering Standards, specifications and, equipment manufacturer recommendations to support Center of Excellence initiatives.

  • Coordinate the pre-qualification and selection of consulting and construction organizations for projects using negotiation or competitive selection process.

  • Accountable for establishing and acheiving project budget and cost.

  • Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the business. (10%)

Knowledge / Skills

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply theoretical and practical engineering principles to perform basic engineering (hydraulic, mechanical, etc.) related functions.

  • Knowledge of drafting/CAD techniques, design and engineering terminology.

  • Knowledge of company standards and procedures.

  • Sound business acumen and judgment.

  • Knowledge of property (easement rights).

  • Ability to interpret meets and bounds property descriptions.

  • Computer literacy including a major word processor program, spreadsheet, graphics and/or CAD. Preferred – Experience using Outlook.

  • Ability to oversee and monitor construction work for adherence to project plans and specifications.

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance on varied engineering planning, design and construction related assignments under the direction of an Engineer or other supervisory personnel.

  • Possess strong, detail oriented, analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Engineering Technician or related experience.

  • Associate's Degree or Technical School equivalent with course work in Drafting and Engineering required.
