Burns & McDonnell Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist in Saint Louis, Missouri

Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity in our Environmental Group for a Compliance Specialist. This seller/doer position requires solid regulatory and technical understanding of facility and corporate-level multi-media environmental permitting/compliance support, including compliance/systems auditing, permit preparation, hazardous waste management (RCRA), and facility-level training. Must have experience understanding and implementing environmental compliance programs and assisting industrial clients.This individual will have the opportunity to grow into managing a compliance group.

The position will require key areas of compliance support including, but not limited to air compliance, including air permitting (Construction, PSD, Title V, etc.), emission inventory reporting, and accidental release (PSM/RMP) provisions. Other duties as assigned.

Experience with health & safety issues in a plant environment is a plus, but not required. Experience with waste management oversight in a plant environment is also a plus, but not required. Business development and/or management experience is a plus. 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field from an accredited program is required.

  • A minimum of 10 years of environmental compliance experience working with commercial and industrial clients is preferred.

  • Must have ability/interest to manage people.

  • Strong Knowledge of environmental regulatory guidelines.

  • Proficient in air emissions-related permitting/compliance work.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office are required.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is required.

  • Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
