70905BRTitle:Continuous Improvement CoordinatorBusiness:US - GTS - Hand Tools Storage Group (HTSG) State/Country/Province:Missouri No. of Positions:2Job Description: Position SummaryThis position is responsible for supporting the transition to Lean/Sigma Manufacturing at the facility level. Primary responsibility is to ensure there is an effective transformation from traditional batch manufacturing to Lean/Sigma Manufacturing by removing waste from the value stream and improving throughput to develop the future state value stream map for the facility. The overarching goals of a 5S champion is to communicate the importance and benefits of the initiative, teach and rollout the process across the organization, measure and monitor program adherence, communicate program success and inspire enthusiasm and create opportunities to improve 5S adherence and performance. The 5S Champion will coordinate these activities with the Continuous Improvement Manager. Essential FunctionsSupport initiatives that integrate Lean/Sigma throughout the facility, using continuous improvement (CI) tools such as; kaizen events, 5S, Six-Sigma, “standard work”, OEE, mistake proofing, etc. to reduce waste, optimize capital assets and improving throughput. Contribute to the manufacturing facility to achieve productivity, inventory, quality, throughput, space and safety objectives established for the facility.Establish and support the 5S process within the facility. Support the training and education plan facility wide to ensure associates possess the knowledge and skill required to implement and maintain Lean/Sigma effortsContinuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures. Must take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards.Take an active role in caring for the equipment to prevent breakdowns and defects and help increase overall equipment efficiency through 5S, TPM (total productive maintenance), and other Lean Manufacturing initiatives directed by the Sedalia site. The 5S Champion will be required to meet satisfactory performance requirements as determined by the Manager.Additional responsibilities include good housekeeping and other assignments as directed by the Manager.The employee shall be able to work overtime as requested and posted by management. Specific DutiesKnowledge of or understanding of 5S ProgramImplement 5S throughout the plantSupport kaizen event leadersImplement effective visual manufacturing boards throughout the facility.Sustain gains implemented through kaizen events.Utilize suppliers in Kaizen events to assist in the transition to CFM as needed. Function as a change agent.Work with various department stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change.Continually communicate the importance and progress of the 5S program.Collect feedback from different levels of the organization, solicit feedback on what has worked well for areas that are doing especially well and share feedback across the organization.Ensure “standard work” is vigorously implemented using straightforward work instructions to sustain the improvementsSupport the follow-up efforts established from Kaizen eventsProblem solvingUse of tools and building of equipment used for 5SAbility to plan projectsBe a resource for 5S on the floor and managementHold people accountableAbility to draw sketches of things to buildPrepare and post visual components on shop floorWork with personnel on the floor.Perform other duties as assigned QualificationsSix Sigma Green Belt a plus5S and other CI knowledgeFive years’ experience in manufacturing environmentAbility to safely utilize power equipment/toolsUse of tools and building of equipment used for 5SAbility to draw sketches of things to buildPrepare and post visual components on shop floorStrong quantitative and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills (oral and written)Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.Proficiency in-group and individual training techniques.Ability to plan and manage multiple projectsWillingness to take risks on solutions and decisionsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively facilitate and communicate at all levels of the organization.Must be results oriented, energetic, proactive, a team player, with the ability to think conceptually and strategically Physical RequirementsMust have normal field of visionMust be capable of lifting 30 lbs.Must have vision corrected to 20/20Capable of effective written and oral communicationAbility to distinguish color differences.
