The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for safe and efficient manufacturing of several products to deliver results for EHS, quality, customer service, cost reductions and new product development. 3M Springfield currently produce adhesives, adhesive coated films, and sealants for 16 different divisions across more than 70 work centers.
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity)
Driving cost and productivity improvements by leading Lean Six Sigma projects with a variety of toolsets, including: DMAIC, standard work development, tier reviews and kaizens
Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools
Proactively communicates project direction and status to appropriate personnel
Engagement and involvement in daily operations to meet service targets, including direction/support of maintenance and division engineering activities
Realize growth opportunities by guiding new product introduction efforts and completing experimental runs
Representing 3M Springfield IATD during internal and external customer interactions and audits
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Master's degree or higher from an accredited university
Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
Experience in leading multi-functional teams through complex projects from planning to completion
Experience in supporting new product development and commercialization
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Experience in six sigma and lean
Location: Springfield, MO
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and/or international
Relocation: Is authorized
