LMI Aerospace Quality Auditor Engineer in St. Charles, Missouri

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer will maintain the LMI Aerospace Quality System procedures to meet the current requirements of LMI customers’, industry and regulatory requirements. The Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer will also support internal and external audits of the LMI Quality Management System and related processes and, the LMI corrective action process as needed. The employee will also support to the Internal Customers at the plant sites. While performing all duties and responsibilities, the Auditor/Engineer will at all times, model LMI values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the LMI Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.


  • Develop and implement quantifiable internal audit check sheets

  • Identify questions and evidence required to validate processes

  • Develop, schedule, conduct and evaluate audits and report on results

  • Includes Special Processes (NDT, Chem Mill, etc.)

  • Perform as an escort or technical resource as required for customer quality audits, visits and certifications

  • Analyze audit findings and propose corrective actions when necessary

  • Respond directly or provide assistance to plant personnel in developing corrective action responses to findings issued as a result of an audit

  • Close corrective action files

  • Review and provide feedback to responses for Corrective Action Requests (CARs)

  • Perform follow up reviews to validate implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions taken

  • Maintain CAR records/database as appropriate

  • Quality Management System Support

  • Review, develop and maintain Quality system documents that meet customer and/or AS9100 requirements

  • Make recommendations or participate in problem solving teams to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of the Quality System

  • Collect data and prepare quality metrics as required

  • Work with Microsoft Office Suite, Q-Pulse, AS400, On-Base or other software applications to information to LMI management and customers

  • Participate in various special projects and improvement teams as requested

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience or the equivalent combination of industry experience, education and training. Auditing experience is required, preferably to AS9000/AS9100. Aerospace industry knowledge is preferred. Lead Auditor certification for AS9000/AS9100 is preferred, as well as knowledge of Digital Product Definition/Model Based Definition.

  • Specific Job Skills: Proficient in use of quality tools used to analyze data, Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access, and AS/400. Should have the ability to perform root cause/corrective action analysis, ability to plan, conduct, evaluate and close-out audits and have the ability to create, revise and control QMS documentation. Should be able to learn new software applications quickly.

  • Behavior/Work Management Skills: Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements. Must be able to promote a participative, team oriented environment, working with customers (both internal and external), all employees, vendors and others in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical materials and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees and vendors.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, accounting and financial calculations and projections. Ability to produce and interpret financial reports in graph and diagram form.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk working and/or attending meetings with periodic breaks. Must be able to move throughout the office and/or manufacturing area and talk, hear or otherwise communicate with employees, management, customers, suppliers and others. May occasionally lift and /or move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment: Normal work environment is a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor.

Special Requirement: The ability to work extended hours, including possible weekends, as required. Some travel should be expected, up to 35%, to other LMI sites, locations or special training programs.
