Barge Loader/ Barge Cleaner St. Louis, MO

This is a full time, hourly position.

Job Responsibilities:

Potential assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work well within a team

  • Operate hoists, Operate powered industrial truck such as forklift, skid steer crane & excavator, operate hand tools and power tools

  • Safely load barges at the facility with all grains and product to grade and specification

  • Operate equipment in the facility (Bucket Elevators, conveyors etc.)

  • Execute housekeeping tasks to company standard (Shoveling, sweeping etc.)

  • Conduct general plant labor

  • Cleaning the decks, hoppers and covers of barges

  • Cleaning tank barges

  • Cleaning preparation using pumps, wash hoses and hooking up a crane

  • General cleaning and maintenance of crane barges, shops and yards

  • Use hand signals for safe crane operations

  • Assisting harbor boats, mechanics and welders

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience preferred, but not required

  • Ability to follow direction and execute tasks under the supervision of the leadperson, assistant manager and location manager

  • Crane & Excavator operating experience preferred, but not required

  • Reading and writing skills sufficient to comprehend/complete a variety of documents

  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments, and priorities depending upon identified needs of the operations

  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

  • Must be able to work in all types of climates

  • Promote the ADM Way and core Values

  • Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures

  • Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and Holidays

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

Job Qualifications:

To be considered for an opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance

  • Able to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: prolonged periods of standing and sitting, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.), lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted

  • Willing to work weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime when needed

  • Demonstrate initiative to work independently while flexible enough to work in team setting when needed

  • Exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude

  • Previous barge loading, electrical and mechanical experience is preferred

  • High school education or equivalent is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time

  • Frequent heavy lifting

  • Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending and climbing stairs/ladders

  • Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined spaces
