Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

Position is responsible for operating and maintaining systems used to produce radioisotopes, clinical and investigational radiopharmaceutical. Additionally the position will design equipment and upgrades needed for clinical research development.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operates and maintains medical use cyclotrons that can accelerate protons ranging from 11 MeV up to 19 MeV and deuterons from 8-9 MeV used to produce isotopes (PET) that are processed into radiochemicals, radio-tracers and radiopharmaceuticals for the research and medical community to use in both research and clinical practice.
  2. Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for clinical and research use, following written SOP’s after training. Troubleshoots instrumentation for radiopharmaceutical production as required. Performs analytical analyses of final radiopharmaceuticals as needed.
  3. Design, build and test automated systems used to deliver and produce radiopharmaceuticals as directed. Suggests and implements improvements for current radiopharmaceutical production systems.
  4. Corrects and troubleshoots issues found on automation and analytical systems used in producing radiopharmaceuticals.
  5. Installs and upgrades software for commercial automated radiopharmaceutical productions and analytical systems. Programs commercial and custom built automated and data acquisition systems. Coordinates with the IT Department to ensure the proper oversight on internal projects.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in engineering or related science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Biomedical, chemical, or electrical engineering related work experience in producing radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Knowledge of common computer programming software and programs with some Labview programming experience preferred. Prefer experience working with radioactive materials. Must have attention to detail. Ability to perform duties quickly and efficiently under time constraints. Ability to perform mathematical computations, meter readings, and proper adjustments to machines to maximize performance.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties quickly and efficiently under time constraints; ability to follow standard operating procedures and practices accurately; aptitude for creative thinking and must possess excellent problem solving skills; technically and mechanically oriented; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; willing to work with radioactivity.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $51,292 - $66,684 annually.
