Data Scientist for Chesterfield, MO to perform genomic & breeding pipeline analysis; advance knowledge of genomic predictions & breeding methods; analyze & interpret genomics data to improve testing, breeding and product placement practices; develop models to predict performance of populations & entries; create modifications to production pipeline to deliver novel analytics solutions; deliver production analytics to support pipeline advancement; deploy analytics solutions on cloud-based platforms; partner with global IT teams to create enterprise analytics solutions.
Requires Master’s in Bioinformatics, Plant Breeding, Crop or Horticultural Science, or closely-related field, completion of all Ph.D. coursework in Bioinformatics, Plant Breeding, Crop or Horticultural Science, or closely-related field, and 2 yrs experience using R, Python, Perl and/or SAS to conduct quantitative analysis of large field and/or genomics datasets; using SQL and/or Hadoop to work with large databases & aggregate and/or summarize complex datasets; communicating predictive model performance & assessment to technical and non-technical stakeholders; collaborating with cross-functional & multi-disciplinary teams; and using theoretical quantitative genetics & breeding methods, including genomics selection, QTL mapping, genome wide association analysis, selection theory, quantitative trait dissection, molecular breeding, and marker-assisted selection, to analyze genomics data and generate genomics predictions.
