Bayer’s Emerging Leaders in Science (ELS) scientific leadership recruitment and career development program is seeking top scientific talent to join our Research & Development (R&D) Organization. Bayer’s R&D Organization is seeking a highly motivated scientific leader to join its cutting edge Emerging Leader in Science Program (ELS). The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of competitive scientific accomplishment in Plant Pathogen Interactions, Protein Biochemistry or Plant Biology. As part of the ELS program, you will be expected to foster and advance cross technology efforts to meet scientific challenges that address Bayer’s commitment to global agriculture.
Key success factors for the candidate include a proven record of scientific accomplishment, as demonstrated by any of the following: high impact publications, success in obtaining competitive funding, and/or clear success in translating basic research to real world challenges. In addition, the successful candidate will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and the agility to respond rapidly to scientific challenges as they arise.
Required Skills / Experience:
Minimum of a PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Plant Pathology or related field of study
Minimum of two or more years of Post-Doctorate experience
Strong record of two or more peer-reviewed publications (either submitted, in preparation or published) related to Plant Pathogen Interaction, Protein Biochemistry or Plant Biology
Exceptional written communication and oral presentation skills
Ability to lead and influence people at various levels in a research environment
Ability and willingness to relocate
Desired Skills / Experience:
Currently an Assistant Professor or higher
Experience researching crops (i.e. Corn, Soybean and/or Cotton)
Experience related to plant genetics, plant pathology, Biochemistry or other area of plant science
Strong record of two or more peer-reviewed publications related to Plant Pathogen Interaction, Protein Biochemistry or Plant Biology
Experience with building consensus and leading through influence across multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to work with strict deadlines in a highly demanding and dynamic environment, and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong leadership desire, ability, and potential partnered with innovation and critical thinking skills
Strong learning aptitude and agility
Excellent relationship, networking and collaboration skills
