Job Description:

Work within a team environment to execute geospatial data work packages from project setup, database creation, data manipulation, peer review, to finishing and project delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Demonstrate mastery of established GIS production processes, software, and productivity tools on a daily basis.

  • Manage work packages and provide interface to project management.

  • Perform in process peer reviews.

  • Make recommendations for process improvements.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

  • Manage time to maintain critical work deadlines

Responsibilities:

Follow established geospatial data production processes for content analysis, validation, cleansing, collection and reporting. Analyze and validate data content and assemble new content from various sources, including databases, files/spreadsheets, and websites. Adhere to stringent quality control guidelines. Forecast and monitor resource requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree with 2+ years of experience in a Scientific or Technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must have experience with ESRI ArcGIS10 including extensions

  • Working knowledge of personal Geodatabases is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with NGA geospatial data manipulation

  • Experience conflating multiple geospatial datasets

  • Knowledge of a variety of standard NGA Hardcopy and Digital products

  • Ability to perform pinpoint enrichment activities using open source and government furnished information

  • Possess advanced editing skills for correcting topological errors such as kickbacks, over/undershoots, gaps/slivers, and illegal shared faces in an efficient manner

  • Experience identifying and extracting complex features from digital imagery

  • Working knowledge of other geospatial software tools (e.g., ArcSDE, GAIT, Stereo Analyst, MS Office Suite, etc.)

  • Experience with Esri Data Reviewer and Defense Mapping Solution

  • Experience with Fonts, Grid XMLs, Visual Specification Tables, Marginalia Templates, Annotation, Style Files, Production Mapping Tools

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
