Department Name/Job Location

This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology. This position is for the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions

Postdoctoral position available to study the molecular mechanisms that regulate voltage-gated ion channels in the mammalian heart. These channels are critical determinants of action potential generation in the myocardium, and changes in their expression or properties are associated with increased risk of arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. The available position presents an exceptional opportunity for an individual interested in combining molecular, electrophysiological and modeling approaches to define the physiological mechanisms controlling the expression and properties of myocardial ion channels and how these mechanisms go awry in inherited and acquired cardiac disease using native (mouse and human) cardiac myocytes and human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiac myocytes (hiPSC-CMs). Successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary environment of electrophysiologists, biophysicists, cardiologist and engineers and will have the opportunity to broaden their training and advance their careers in collaborative research activities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in physiology or a related field and experience in electrophysiology.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience/expertise in molecular biology or imaging.

Salary Range

Base pay commensurate with experience.
