Monsanto Production Research Intern or Co-op in ST. LOUIS, Missouri

We are seeking motivated Production Research Interns or

Co-ops. These positions will be located at one of our seed sites in Huxley, IA,

Farmer City and Waterman, IL, Constantine, MI, and Waco, NE and will report to

the site’s Research Scientist.

As part of the experience students will get hands-on

experience in all aspects of conducting and evaluating field research to

support North American seed production. Interns and coops are assigned to

mentors who outline tasks, assist in role and project assignment and project

completion. All interns and co-ops will partake in an orientation session and end

of assignment wrap up session held in St. Louis, MO.

Opportunities for this role include a Fall Co-op (May to

December of 2019) or Summer Internship (May to August of 2019).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field data collection

  • Data management

  • Field maintenance and evaluation

  • Advancement of inbred corn germplasmand chemistry

  • Seed treatment evaluations

  • Experimental precision ag. assessments

Required Skills/Experiences:

  • Currentlyenrolled in a BS degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Business,Agriculture Technology Systems, or Ag related degree

  • Validdriver’s license, as driving between local sites/fields is necessary forthis position

  • Candidatesmust have their own transportation to and from the worksite, as most ofthe work locations are situated in areas with no public transportation

  • Abilityto build relationships and work well in a team based environment

  • Abilityto communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Self-motivatedwith a strong results orientation. Demonstrated ability to manage adeadline while being able to focus on details

  • Strongproblem-solving skills and an ability to organize (thoughts, data, etc)

  • Excellentcomputer skills related to data acquisition and record keeping

  • Demonstratedleadership ability. Desire to learn and willing to ask questions andable to adapt to change

Desired Skills/Experiences:

  • Useof a company pooled car may be preferred during the workday – if availableat your work site. In order to be eligible to drive a company car, yourdriving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screeningfor Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employmentscreening.
