QC Lab Technologist Is perform basic through advanced manufacturing, processing and test procedures on blood products. QC Lab Technologist Is also interpret test results before releasing blood to area hospitals. All tasks are performed in highly regulated environment. Successful QC Lab Technologist Is will have a strong attention to detail, a customer-service focus and the ability to treat both internal and external customers with compassion at all times. Schedule: Sunday - Thursday; variable start time of 2 am or 4 am. QC Lab Technologist I - Responsibilities* Perform and interpret various testing procedures on blood products for patients' use at area hospitals* Operate, maintain and perform quality control checks on equipment. Ensure adequate inventory of required supplies* Maintain, edit and review computer and manual records to assure accurate record keeping* Perform the quarantine and disposition of unacceptable products. Ensure products are suitable for release for distribution and are managed appropriately* Be detail oriented all day, every day, to ensure that the blood you process meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.* Remain flexible to work a variable schedule that includes weekends & holidays to meet the needs of our hospitals* Interact in a positive, proactive, and customer-focused manner with both internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times The aforementioned responsibilities of the QC Lab Technologist I describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list. Qualifications * Education: Associates degree in science required, MLT (ASCP) or MT(ASCP) certification preferred.* Bachelor's in Science or Biology required. * Experience: No additional experience required for MLT or MT degreed staff. Minimum 4 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and related experience required for non-MLT/MT staff. Must meet state and CLIA requirements. Skills/Abilities: Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment. Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods of time. Ability to work with a team.* Physical requirements may include standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods. The ability to lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds. You may work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time. Physical Requirements: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Frequently lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs. unassisted. Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 100 pounds on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently required to stand for long periods of time, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Able to withstand temperatures in a typical blood banking environment including refrigerators and freezers. Position may require climbing of step ladders.
