Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Hours are generally normal business hours but may vary due to the timing for experiments and other research activity deadlines. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Dr. Cho’s lab in the Division of Hematology and Department of Internal Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine is currently seeking an academic Research Technician II to join. The successful candidate will participate actively in a research project studying the mechanism of platelet activation and thrombosis and ensure smooth functioning of the lab’s day-to-day activities. This position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment. 2. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. 3. Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc. 4. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. 5. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures. 6. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning. 7. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years. Preferred Qualifications * Experience maintaining mouse colonies and/or willingness to handle mice. * Excellent basic lab skills, including aseptic techniques, making complex buffers and media, and ability to precisely pipette and handle samples in an organized, high-throughput manner. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. * Strong organizational skills. * Ability to genotype and breed mice. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
